Preservation & Restoration

Preservation and restoration of the MXECH requires a comprehensive fundraising campaign. To meet its goals, the MXECH must collaborate with community members, city, state and federal institutions to raise sufficient funds for the rehabilitation of the property.

Extended vacancy following the assassination of Malcolm X left the home susceptible to structural deterioration.

Roof Preservation

Recent addition of a protective tarp and panelling; in order to slow rate of roof deterioration.
Efforts to restore roof will follow additional fundraising.

Exterior Features

Exterior renovations needed include: porch/roof restoration, exterior and side facade, landscape, front wall stabilization, garage, windows, insulation, foundation and more.
